Description: White Shell is an area on the north bank of the St. Johns River just east of Sister’s Creek. It is an open area protected by 2 small peninsulas and a series of rocks which host a wide variety of fish. The rocks are covered at high tide. Fish the inside, the outside, and the sloughs that form in the channels between the rocks. There are also oyster beds, sand bars, and grassy flats in the area that are productive. Directly across the river from the west end of White Shell is St. John’s Creek, a nice little creek with a large sandbar at the entrance and oyster beds inside.
Difficulty: Easy to paddle. Beware the current on the edges of the rocks at low tide.
Closest Bait&Tackle Shop: White Shell Fish Camp.
