Destination: Cedar Point Creek
Directions: Cedar Point Creek is north of Heckscher Dr between 9A and the ferry, and runs north along Cedar Point Rd.
Description: Cedar Point Creek is situated between Clapboard Creek and Hannah Mills Creek. It runs north from Heckscher Dr then bends east and ultimately joins the ICW just south of Cedar Point. This area has a zillion finger creeks and flats, simply tons of great spots for fishing.
Difficulty: Easy paddle but a lot of water can be covered.
Closest Bait&Tackle Shop: White Shell Fish Camp and Clapboard Creek Fish Camp.
Launches: There are several launches for kayak fishing depending on whether you want to start at the south end or the north end of the creek.
- L1 – The next bridge west of the Hannah Mills launch across the street form the White Shell Fish Camp is the southernmost portion of Cedar Point Creek. You will see a pipe that runs under the road that the creek uses to drain into the White Shell portion of the river. Access is not the easiest here as you will need to get through some grass to a launch that can be muddy. ALso parking is limited and not very secure.
- L2 – (Not shown on this map) Use the Palms Fish Camp launch at Clapboard Creek and paddle east in the first channel to access the southern portion of Cedar Point Creek.
- L3 – (Not shown on this map) The launch at the end of Cedar Point Rd out at Cedar Point puts the paddler into the Horseshoe Creek. Exit the Horseshoe Creek and paddle south in the ICW and the next channel to the west is the northern entrance to Cedar Point Creek. For more information on finding this launch see the Cedar Point launch.
